Holy Yarn, Batman!!

A customer asked me to come up with a "Batman" inspired colourway......and this is the result :)
I asked the Husbeast last night which SuperHero had inspired it, and he said "Batman"....so, my work here is done!
I am so pleased with it, but it's unlikely I will be able to repeat it...hehehe...so don't ask me!!!

Enchanted Elsewhere, Part 1

A 3 ply yarn, 2 lots of SouthernCross Fibre Corriedale, July's Fibre Club "Enchanted", and then a bobbin of space spun merino/falkland, so the resulting yarn will self stripe :D

There is about 300g there, 420yds across 3 skeins......

I am spinning up 500g of the July fibre club as part of a whole series of spinning technique and colour play experiments, to ultimately be knitted up as an "Elsewhere" jacket, designed by Amy Swensen.

It will be a teaching aid in a Yarn Design workshop I am doing next year...

I am thinking these 3 skeins will be the sleeves, you'll be able to see the self~striping effect more, what do you guys think???

The next installment will again be, two lots of the "Enchanted", and then just a solid black falkland ply :)

Watch this space ;)

My Miya :)

This awesome bag is coming to live with me......I know, I am weak, especially for skulls :)
As you all know, I have a good friend with awesome sewing skillz, NicKnots and she's just launched a brand new bag design to her growing range of wonderfulness :) As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to own one, as I am a bag ho, and love to be one of the first to have something new and exciting :)
Plus, see the sock in the last pictoore? That's my sock yarn that is....... **grin**
If you are hankering after Miya too......all you have to do is pop over to Folksy and buy one.
Go on, you know you want to!!!

Nimbus Beanie

A fantastic pattern by WoollyWormhead, written exclusively for Viridian Distribution, who distribute Nimbus Organic Merino yarn throughout Europe.

It has the most divine crown decreases!!!

Joel chose the yarn, it's my October fibre club yarn "Toxic Brew".....not the best yarn for showing off the pattern.....but he chose it and had a little strop when I tried to guide him towards a more semi~solid yarn....
hahaha

He hasn't taken it off since this morning......that's a good sign... ;)

BluGrass

This colourway has been bouncing around in my head for a while now, I just needed to focus myself and get it down on yarn.... :)
I achieved the most striking blue last week, when I dyed a colourway called "Black Rainbow", so it was my aim to reproduce this blue, and put it with an acidic green and a jade/teal green....with big colour overlaps to see what happened.
So I tried it out last night, after a brilliant family weekend, and this is what happened. I am so pleased with it, it's exactly how I saw it in my head.
It's gonna be all listed in the shop later on tonight :)

Lady February Sweater

A lovely customer of mine asked me to dye her some machine washable DK in a semi~solid Petrol Blue for her, to match a dress, so she could make a Lady February Sweater for a wedding. One of my strengths is being able to dye yarn to match fabric, I get a lot of requests to do this.
Isn't it beautiful??

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it!!

Remember this Blog post (second post down) ??
Well, we went and ordered it today, and got 10% off.....bonus!!!
.:: squeeees ::.

We've got someone booked in to lay the concrete base and block up the outside cupboard, a plumber to come round and move the gas pipe that is in the way, and also have my MILs old kitchen sitting in the garage :) It needs cladding with plasterboard and insulating too.....
All I need now is to start collecting appliances ;) Two electric cookers would be nice, an urn to heat the hot water and a few other bits and pieces.
If I am extrememly good girl and smile sweetly at everyone, I'll be up and running this side of Christmas...
It will be so nice to go *out* to work...get out of my kitchen!! I might even enjoy cooking food in it for a change???
I will get my house back......and maybe start treating it like a proper house and get it properly decorated, although I do like the bohemian look, eh Nic ;)

I made a hat!!!

I really wanted to make something with some of my "Celebrity MasterChef" 3ply handspun, so I just sat down and started knitting.......I had a *idea* of what I wanted to make, and about 3 hours knitting and some short rows later I had this :D
I love the colours........loveLoveLOVE them.......

Celebrity Masterchef, 3 ply handspun

Three plies, from three different "Chefs"......all put together in one yarn.... :)

"Ginny", FatCatKnits merino called "Of a Feather", was my starting point...

.... then came "David", SCF Polwarth top, called "Coorong"

... then the final ply was chosen, "Amy", Spunky Eclectic Merino-Bamboo, called "Beach Day".....
They all go together beautifully, and Amy's very subtly coloured merino~bamboo (far right) adds such a terrific shine to the overall piece :)
Full of WIN, I am so pleased with it!!

Happy Accident :)

Okay, so yesterday found me wanting to dye "Gloria" (pictured above)....but the dyejob didn't turn out like I expected ;)
So, this new colourway has be named "Glorious"...because I think it is, just perfect to cheer up the dull and cold nights we are having at the moment with the onset of winter happening........and it is in the shop, along with some merino~silk I did at the same time..... :)

Fancy a new hat??

My esteemed genius hat designer friend, WoollyWormhead has reformatted her Scrappy Flapper chullo for use with my Aran yarns...and we've called it "Happy Flapper" **grins**
I am loading a few kits up into the shop tonight, in "Phoenix", Goblin" and "Purple Rainbow" (the yarn pictured top) and also some kettle dyed single skeins of Aran, that are suitable for hat making too.....like this ;)

New Product at Babylonglegs!!!

I am so excited about this!! If you remember a few weeks ago I shared that Carol Feller from Stolen Stitches designed a pattern in my SW BFL sock yarn?
Well she's given me permission to sell kits to make the jumpers with her pattern included!!!
So, if you want to knit this beautiful childrens jumper, which takes between one and three skeins of SW BFL sock yarn......please head over to my shop!! I just got a delivery of the loveliest yarn, a really high twist BFL sock....will be hardwearing, and will also have great stitch definition :)
I am offerring it as a custom dye only at the moment......so you decide what size you'll need to knit, and I dye the wool in your chosen colours.
Couldn't be more simple.....right???
